This May, Pretend City Children’s Museum is inviting youngsters to party like rock stars as they “Rock the City!” Give them a stage, and they’ll give you a performance of a lifetime. All future rock stars are invited to wear the wildest costumes, play the coolest instruments, and perform at the hottest venue in Orange County: the Pretend City Children’s Museum Amphitheater! Through interactive performances, special guest appearances, and special programming, Pretend City explores what it takes to put on a rockin’ good show.

For the month of April, Pretend City is getting into color. Color The City all month long by exploring art and creativity. On Thursday, September 19th, we celebrated national “Talk Like a Pirate Day with a pirate party where we danced like pirates, stomped our boots in a pirate parade, listened to pirate-themed stories and practiced gross motor skills by walking the plank. Pretend City is all about having fun in an interactive learning environment.
It’s now October and bugs have invaded Irvine! Bright and busy bugs have filled Pretend City Children’s Museum and have made their creepy, crawly way over to the museum’s craggy cave, grassy meadow and frightful farm shed.

Now that most of the “Big Kids” are back in school; for September, Pretend City is calling all little and big explorers to sail away and find the treasure in reading. Celebrate “Talk Like a Pirate Day” and take a literary peek into a pirate’s life on the rolling seas.
Celebrate reading in September because it is National Literacy Month! Pretend City encourages the love of reading and promotes literacy as a fundamental skill for children’s success.

It’s amazing to think that Pretend City is in its 4th year entertaining families in Orange County. For the month of August, they are focusing on back to school and keeping children engaged in community activities. Therefore, you’re not going to want to miss their upcoming “When I Grow Up Day” on Friday, August 23rd from 10am – 3pm, where children will be able to engage with professionals and learn about what they do.
