Yesterday I had the amazing opportunity to participate in the launch of the 2014 Angelitos Card.
In 1961, Angelitos de Oro was established in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County. Their mission is to raise awareness and funds supporting the mentoring programs established by Big Brothers Big Sisters.
We’re heading into the final stretch of summer, are you ready? Have you started accumulating school supplies?Typically we start off by cleaning our our closets and making donations to local charities. Then we head out for back to school shopping, but I’ve recently discovered an organization called Schoola, where you can both donate and get name brand, gently used clothing while supporting local schools and programs at this same time.
My kids are finally starting to hit some serious growth spurts. With that, they’re finally growing out of the toddler sizes and into big kids clothes. The predicament, closets and drawers full of clothes that don’t fit. While I’ve used consignment sales in the past, I’ve decided that donating seems to be the best fit for us. There are organizations like Schoola that consign gently used clothes at amazing prices. Specific schools in the program receive the proceeds from each item sold, money that funds programs so critical to the success of our kids.
Last night the kids and I went to the OC Fair Grounds for the 27th Annual Hoag Summer Movie Classic.
A unique event, The Hoag Hospital Foundation and its 552 Club, celebrated their 27th year of this amazing fundraiser. Since its incepetion, the foundation has raised over $2 million dollars.
On Saturday, February 1st Knott’s Berry Farm and Susan G Koman Orange County kicked off their partnership in raising fund for breast cancer awarness in Orange County. Statistics show that one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer so it is so amazing these two organizations are teaming up for OC Women.
In February 1st through March 31, Knotts Berry Farm will be selling “Pink Tickets” and limited “pink” shirts and magnets to help raise money for Breast Cancer awareness.

It’s been a wonderful experience so far this year being the Room Mom to my son’s Kindergarten class. I truly enjoy helping the teacher, who I’ve really grown fond of and working with the students and fellow parents.
I was excited to hear that our teacher is passionate about the Macy’s and Make-A-Wish annual “Believe” campaign.
The holidays are a wonderful time to teach children the spirit of giving. We recently had the opportunity to review a book called The Sparkle Box, which introduced the idea of giving to those in need during the holidays, to our children. You can see the review and book here: The Sparkle Box.
Along with getting into the book with my children, we decided to start filling our own sparkle box. Last week we were invited by friends at Branding Personality, who put together a “Not Your Typical Holiday Party”. Such a great idea, we were invited to visit Co-Work & Play in Fullerton, have a little dinner, spend some time with friends, and most importantly decorate donated gifts that will be going to foster care children.
This year the Los Angeles Angels are partnering with St. Joseph’s health and it’s Southern California hospitals in two unique campaigns – “St. Joseph Health Heroes” and “Halo Moments”.
