This weekend; May 2nd, Segerstrom Center is offering a wonderful event FREE Open House at the ABT Gillespie School at Segerstrom Center for The Arts from 10:00am – 5:00pm for students and prospective students of dance ages 3-14 and their parents.

The American Ballet Theater Gillespie School is led by Principal Alaine Haubert, an internationally acclaimed dance educator and coach and follows the ABT’s National Training Curriculum, a ballet program designed specifically for children ages 3 through 14 years of age. This unique ballet curriculum, divided by age, promotes discipline and creativity, encouraging students to reach their highest potential while building a safe and solid foundation in technique.

I’m back!!! Did you miss me? I decided to take a Winter Break for myself and step away from the computer. It was a much needed vacation until we all fell ill. I was particularly excited and overjoyed that I spent Christmas in bed with the flu. Thankfully my hubby took over and prepared an amazing day for all of us. Once we finally were back amongst the healthy, it was time for fun! For the holidays, my mother-in-law requested one thing – Kinky Boots. I thought she was going a little mad – since when was she “Kinky” and where and I’m going to get these “Kinky Boots”. That was, until I heard that Kinky Boots was an amazing performance at Segerstrom Center for the Arts.

Thanks to our friends at Segerstrom Center, we got to enjoy the show opening night, but you can still get tickets through January 11th if you act fast!

Taking My Ballerina to Her First Ballet at Segerstrom Center | @SegerstromArts

A couple of weeks ago, I had the opportunity to introduce my daughter to a true treat: her first ballet – Mikhailovsky Ballet: The Flames of Paris St. Petersberg, Russia when they toured through Southern California at Segerstrom Center.

As a dance mom, I’ve really enjoyed watching my little budding ballerina learn her technique and improve week to week. Giving her the opportunity to experience the magic of dance and ballet in the theater as a true fan of the art was just amazing.

Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas arrives at Segerstrom Center | @SegerstromArts

Act now to get your kids tickets to see the stage play of Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas when it premiers in Orange County December 10th – 14th at Segerstrom Center.

Families will find their hearts growing a few sizes along with the Grinch’s when they experience the magic of the beloved tale on stage, which features the hit songs “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch” and “Welcome Christmas” (written by Albert Hague and Dr. Seuss), from the original animated television special. Max the Dog narrates as the mean and scheming Grinch, whose heart is “two sizes too small,” decides to steal Christmas away from the lovable Whos.

However, I haven’t had the opportunity to take her to her first official ballet until now. Mikhailovsky Ballet: The Flames of Paris will be at Segerstrom Hall November 28 – 30, 2014.

The Mikhailovsky Ballet from St. Petersburg, Russia will make its West Coast debut opening Segerstrom Center’s 2014 – 2015 International Dance Series performing The Flames of Paris, a work rarely seen in a full production.
