My Mid-Life Crisis – Wardrobe Project @DownEastBasics

Now that I’ve hit that “BIG 40”, a few of my friends have been giving me a hard time about my typical attire – “T”-Shirt & Jeans.  Hey, they are fun AND comfortable and since I’m a stay at home mom, who really cares what I wear, right?  There are even some days I sneak out to drop off the kids at school in yoga pants, tanks and a sweatshirt because I will squeeze in a Zumba class before heading home.

Last week I met some girlfriends for a girls night out at DownEast Basics at Irvine Spectrum.  When we walked in, I noticed that spring had sprung!!! The store was splashed with beautiful colors.  Bright yellows, oranges, teals, and pinks are in this season.  I particularly love the layers since I’m always cold.  Leggings are back too – super comfy!

Down East Basics was a great place for me to start “updating” my wardrobe.  Luckily I have some VERY stylish friends who were great sounding boards for items I picked.  And, every time I went for the typical t-shirt, they steered me over to garments with more style.

We ended up selecting this fuchsia sweater jacket that is comfortable  with a little flare.  I used a silver pin as a button to keep it from flying open.  I was a little nervous when I initially purchased it, worried it was an item that would sit in my closet with tags, however, I realized I really like it, received many compliments on it.

I also picked up this dark blue cotton blouse that I really love.  Very soft and comfortable this top can be dressed up with black pants/leggings or lightened up a bit with some khaki pants/capri’s.

And my last purchase was this cream colored blouse.  This light rayon material will look great with a pair of brown pants/capri’s, a skirt or whatever else I can find.  (Still need to shop for items to go with it).

I have to say, we had a GREAT night mingling with friends and shopping at DownEast Basics.  Make sure you check out their spring collection – I’m sure there are many items you can incorporate into your wardrobe.
