While traveling, we had lots of opportunities for game time. And rather than spending so much time with technology (i.e. iPads, iPods, movies, etc) we played a few Funny Bones Games.
Funny Bones is part skill, part tradition and totally fun! And, with 30 game challenges, the excitement never ends.
We had the opportunity to sample a couple of the Funny Bones games which proved quite challenging while traveling. We were actually on the road when I decided to test the kids’ building skills with Arrazzles.
Arrazzles is a structural game with thick cardboard disks. Each disk has one of five different patterns of slots that interlock when put together. Build and connect the cards and watch the color schemes reflect off each other. If you have a straw or a chopstick, you can slip them through the middle holes for more building options.
The kids worked together on building options, then individually created their own structures and competed to see how high they could build while the RV was in motion – quite challenging!!!
Spectrix is a colorful take on the classic game of Rummy. The kids being 5 and 6 years old were very into this game because of the color patterns and combinations. The object is to be the first player to get rid of all of the cards in your hand by placing them into color sequences based on the order of colors on the Spectrix guide card or into collections of the same color. Luckily we had colored guides to help them place the colors into the correct patterns.
After we finished the game, they invented their own games with the cards, letting the imagination fly.
These games are perfect at home for game night or even while traveling. I loved that you can get creative with these games and restructure them for any age level. We still haven’t yet played Array – it’s still in the motorhome and ready for our upcoming road trip for next month.
