The Hatch Chile Festival at The Habit celebrates flavorful Hatch Chiles that are grown only in New Mexico. These fabulous chiles were created by combining three chiles to create the perfect blend of heat and flavor. At the Habit, they chargrill each chile over an open flame to bring out the fantastic smoky flavor and have created three awesome “limited time” menu items including:
The Hatch Chile Charburger which is a delicious chargrilled burger with grilled Hatch green chiles, melted cheese, a fire- roasted chipotle salsa, tomato, lettuce and mayo on a toasted sesame seed bun.
My Favorite is Hatch Chile Chicken Sandwich. A delicious lime marinated chicken breast with grilled Hatch chile, melted cheese and the fire-roasted chipotle salsa topped with tomatoes, lettuce on grilled sourdough bread. I just loved the combination of flavors of the marinated chicken and the fire roasted chipotle salsa that think I’d add it to every menu item!
And the Hatch Chile Chicken Salad is the perfect light menu item, however it is quite the serving size. Crisp hand cut greens with the marinated chicken, feta cheese, diced tomatoes, slivers of carrots, black beans and grilled Hatch chile slices toped with fresh cilantro and house made cilantro lime dressing.
I recommend all three! While all equally fabulous, the Hatch Chile Sandwich stood about just a little bit more. If there is an item you would like to add or can do without, the folks at The Habit will happily customize any menu selection for you.
