A healthy lifestyle is what we should all be striving for, but for some, it is easier said than done. I have come up with all kinds of excuses, particularly the “I’m too busy to get going”, while the Hubster has taken action and has lost 35 lbs and looks amazing. So, when I was recently invited to attend the Power House Open House to learn more about their Whey Protein Powder along with their healthy product line, it seemed a perfect fit.
We were introduced to Kevin Lawrence, founder of Power Crunch. He shared his personal story behind the invention of this protein science. His son was born prematurely and had many issues. Unable to nurse from his mother, he developed digestion problems with formula – infantile colitis. With the science of protein absorption he began to test his theory that his son needed simple proteins paired with the nutrition necessary for his fragile body. Once his little man began this new diet, he began to thrive. Today, the formula created is now the basis for the development of the Proto Whey.
The evening started off with a little mingling. We were invited to sample the different products available, so many started with their own designer shakes. Quite simple really, you can add any of your favorite fruits into the blender, add a little ice, your base liquid (water, milk, juice) and two scoops of your Proto Whey protein of choice: Vanilla Crème, Double Chocolate, Cookie & Crème and Café Mocha. They do have an “Ultraburn Proto Whey Energy Protein Powder” in Chocolate Crème and Vanilla Café that enhances weight loss , muscular energy and mental focus.
I decided to go a little tropical with my selection. With mangos, pineapple, pecans and kiwi I chose water as my base liquid and the Vanilla Crème powder. It was super delicious and very satisfying! I didn’t feel the gassy discomfort I typically get when consuming protein powder.
Next, we were also invited to sample the new Protein bars that will be available in 2015:
- Salted Caramel Original Wafer
- Peanut Butter & Honey Bliss Crisp
- Salted Caramel Escape Crisp
My favorite was the Salted Caramel Escape Crisp – it certainly makes a great snack when you are hungry, but are not ready for a meal.
I was quite pleased to discover that you could create delicious desserts with the protein powders. Chef Valerie Cogswell created a Cheesecake Pumpkin Custard dessert with the Power Crunch protein powders. These desserts stabilize your blood sugars while they satisfy your sweet craving.
