Next week, I’m jazzed that my mom will be in town. Since she moved to Las Vegas a couple of years ago, we don’t get many girlie nights together. So, with her in town, I’m planning on surprising her with a night out at Segerstrom Hall for the opening of PIPPIN on November 11th.
Pippin has finally returned to Broadway since it was live on stage 40 years ago. It is the story of a young prince who is on a journey to find some meaning in his life. When he comes to a cross road, he must choose between a simple, happy life or a life with 15 minutes of fame.
My mom’s going to really enjoy the Bob Fosse style choreography by Tony Award nominee Chet Walker and acrobatics by Gypsy Snider. PIPPIN is noted for many Broadway standards including “Corner of the Sky,” “Magic to Do,” “Glory,” “No Time at All,” “Morning Glow” and “Love Song.”
In 2013, PIPPIN received the most nominations including:
- Best Revival of a Musical
- Best Direction of a Musical (Diane Paulus)
- Best Actress in a Musical (Patina Miller)
- Best Featured Actress in a Musical (Andrea Martin)
