Over the weekend we caught the newest Circus Vargas show. iLUMINOUS is now in Irvine at the Great Park with an all new high energy extravaganza. The kids were in awe as they were mesmerized by incredible stunts, high flying aerialists, motorcycles in a steal cage and more.
Now that we’re out of school for the Summer, the first item on our Summer Bucket List was checking out Circus Vargas. The kids were pumped and ready for the show. Smart daddy decided to bring a few of their light up toys – perfect to wave during the show, cheering on the performers. If you don’t have any of your own – Circus Vargas has quite a variety on hand for purchase!
What’s a circus without snacks? Even though we just had dinner – we HAD to pick up popcorn. At the concession stand on the way in (or during intermission) sodas, slushy drinks, popcorn and cotton candy are available for purchase. You can also pick up a souvenir or even get your face painted while your waiting for the show to begin.
Circus Vargas opened up with fun a fun clown act followed by contortionists and stunt skaters – all of which my daughter and I loved. The contortionists were incredible with their concentration and balance, balancing on one leg while holding another performer. And the skaters showed off their speed and agility on a tiny platform in the middle of the ring.
We all agreed that the best act was the high flying trampoline stunts as we watched the aerialists complete somersaults, flips, turns and spins as they bounced off a trampoline and ricocheted off a neon wall.
My boys’ also really enjoyed the motorcycles in a steal cage. My little man was in awe of this stunt as the cyclists practically flew around that cage – at one time, with a female performer standing in the cage. Check it out:
