Aquarium of the Pacific is one of our favorite family destinations in Southern California! Conveniently located in Long Beach, the Aquarium offers a variety of educational programs as well as family fun while exploring local ocean creatures.

The kids and I love visiting the Aquarium because there is so much to see. One of my favorite exhibits is the Shark Lagoon where we touch the rays. During each visit, that is typically our first stop.

The Penguins are also another favorite exhibit as we can stand and watch them swim and dive I their tank for hours.

Planning on visiting the Aquarium of the Pacific soon? They have a number of educational programs and special events going on throughout the year. Below is a list of the educational programs already scheduled for the month of March.

Current Educational Programs:

Shark Lagoon Nights: Get up close to the ocean’s ultimate predators for FREE during Shark Lagoon Nights. Touch bamboo sharks and see large sharks such as sandtigers and rays in the Aquarium’s Shark Lagoon.

Job Shadow Class: Penguin and Lorikeet Biologist: Find out what’s it like to work in the animal care field. There are four unique 3-hour classes that will give you the inside scoop on a career in marine biology.

Aqua Tots: Special classes for the littlest of learners and their parents, where they get hands on interaction with sea life. the Aqua Tots program is created for two- or three-year-olds with an adult.

Junior Biologist: The Junior Biologist series of programs encourage a love of science in your seven- to twelve-year-old child. Each 2-hour class includes theme related activities, guided gallery tour, interaction with our animal care staff behind-the-scenes, and a keepsake journal.

Saturday Family Fun: Part of the parent and me series, the Saturday Family Fun program is designed for four- to six-year-olds with an adult. You and your child will have the opportunity to interact together in a fun and dynamic learning environment.
