With August being our Anniversary, and the last month before school gets in full swing, this year we decided to head out to Las Vegas for our last bit of “stay-cation”.
Our favorite hotel has become The Rio Las Vegas. Even though it is just off the strip, it’s a fun place to stay for families as well as couples with lots to offer.
We love our trips to Las Vegas. Now that we have family there, it is even more special because the kids LOVE visiting Grandma and Grandpa and their fun new retirement home with a beautiful pool and mini putting green in the back yard. What a great place to be able to stay, and/or let the kids spend the night.
So we spent the first night at Grandma’s house and for the second we headed off to The Rio. The hubster checked us in and told me on the elevator up, that he had a surprise for me.
Apparently at check in, when they found out it was our anniversary, the person at hotel reservations immediately upgraded us to a “Cariocas Super Suite”. Have you ever wonder what it was like to get to the floor where you need a special key card to access it? Well, at the Rio, this is it!
You walk in the door and see the guest bathroom off to the right (shown above) and the living/dining area just inside with a wet bar in the corner. (I want this table for home!)
Just pass the dining area is the bedroom with a desk and a tv armoire.
Just beyond that is the main bathroom with double vanity sink, a makeup vanity, jacuzzi tub, and stand alone shower.
Even the complimentary toiletries were top notch! Check out the size of the bottles (standard sizes in regular suites are about half the size).
Now, there is one little secret. This room is what a “Diamond Level Guest” would receive. Become a member of the Total Rewards program and earn your way to different levels of membership. As a Diamond or higher, you get complimentary access to their “Diamond Club Lounge” which includes delicious appetizers, cocktails, email access and more.
As a “Diamond Member”, cabanas around the adult pool are complimentary.
The Rio has 3 pools that families/guests have access to, and 1 pool (pictured above) that is reserved for adult guests.
The adult pool also has beautiful jacuzzis in a beautiful waterfall setting. Hubby tested it – same temperature as the pool.
And when you are at the pool area, there the VooDoo Beach Bar is available for food and cocktails!
I must say, this was a great way to spend our anniversary! Thanks honey for making it so special – and to Grandma & Grandpa for watching the kiddos!! Thanks Rio Las Vegas for a fantastic Anniversary getaway!
Awesome! You two so deserved this. Happy Anniversary! Russ and I are going to The Rio this Labor Day weekend. I am not a Diamond level yet, but the rooms we have stayed in there are all pretty great. Great job, Jen! I love all your articles.
