We rounded out our summer with a final staycation in collaboration with the Sonesta Redondo Beach & Marina. It was a great local getaway with gorgeous views of the Pacific Ocean and the Palos Verdes Hills surrounded this beautiful location.
We drove up to the Sonesta, Redondo Beach, and first noticed the relaxing firepit patio area with views of the ocean. Upon entering the hotel, the spacious entryway was bright and inviting with the Harbor Bar and Bistro bustling with hotel guests enjoying the Olympics coverage.
Once checked in, we headed to our accommodations. It was a spacious room with a king-sized bed with plush bedding. The room also had typical furnishings including a small chest of drawers, a desk, a comfy chair and ottoman, and a balcony overlooking the ocean.
After checking in, we decided to head out to explore the nearby Redondo Beach Pier since it was within walking distance. There, we watched skateboarders practice their tricks, checked out the fish market and eateries, watched the sunset, and just enjoyed the afternoon together.
Once back at the hotel, we ventured into the Sonesta Redondo Beach’s Sol Restaurant since we were hungry. Sol offers a classic American brunch for breakfast and an Asian/American Fusion cuisine for dinner.
Dinner was quite delicious. We started off the evening with Sol’s charcuterie and a fantastic Ahi tuna tartare. For my main course, I enjoyed their Asian tacos with shrimp and a sriracha crema sauce. My husband enjoyed their beef spare rib with gochujang sauce. The tacos had a generous amount of chopped-up shrimp in the tacos and the beef spare rib was very tender. To complement our meal, we shared their creme brulee which I enjoyed.
The Sonesta Redondo Beach is a great Southern California getaway if you’re looking for beachy relaxation. We had such a great time. And, it is so close to the James R. Armstrong Theatre, the Toyota Sports Center, and more. The hotel offers everything we need for a comfortable and leisurely stay, from a fully-equipped fitness center to an outdoor, heated pool as well as event facilities if you’re looking to host a wedding, special event, banquet, or meeting, and more.
We truly enjoyed the nights we stayed at the beautiful Sonesta, Redondo Beach, and hope to do a return visit in the future.
