Have you ever been upstairs or in a back room and you hear the dog going nuts or the kids yelling at you and you’re just not sure what’s going on? Typically when my dog is barking up a storm, someone is at the door; however, I may not be available to drop what I’m doing and run to check, if you get my drift. That is where the VTech Audio Video Doorbell comes in handy.
I’ve recently been given the opportunity to sample the VTech Audio Video Doorbell and it has come in handy. This two in one cordless answering system and video doorbell is convenient and an aid in home security.
Typically when it comes to electronics, there is a learning curve on how to install the product. The VTech Audio Video Doorbell was actually quite easy! The two hand held units just plugged into the wall – electricity outlets. The main unit needs a connection to the phone line. The doorbell is actually a little trickier in the fact it needs to be mounted to the wall and connected to your existing doorbell (if you have one). However, installation does require an electric source and an mounting picture guide to help you.
First feature I wanted to check out – that video doorbell. I felt so “tech savy” at the quick installation, that I was so proud of myself that I figured out how to activate the video doorbell. Once someone comes to the door and rings the doorbell, the camera snaps a quick photo and sends it to the hand held devices. This way you can see who is at your doorstep and decide if you really want to answer the door or not. I LOVE this feature!!! Now I don’t have to answer the door to unwanted solicitors.
To activate the video monitor feature, all you have to do is touch the “VIEW” button on your hand held and a live image pops up. From anywhere in your house, you can speak to whoever is at the door via your phone.
The VTech Audio Video Doorbell is also a cordless telephone with an answering machine built in. Now you have two units in one, taking up less counter space.

I need this in my house, we don’t have a peep hole on our door and I don’t like opening the door unless I know who it is. Do you have to have a landline to use the phone?
Yes, you do need to use a landline for the phone. Do you have one?
