If you have an iPad, iPod, or iPhone, you are probably on the hunt for fun educational apps for your children like I am. Nancy O’Dell, a mom and dedicated reporter felt she always learned something new with every interview (the people, the subject and the places). She felt that this was so educational that children should experience this too. However, since kids can’t travel the globe in reality, why not through a fun app.
“I have long wanted to do a series of stories about a little reporter who goes on these fantastic assignments with a “FUNtastic” crew. And I saw my daughter having such a great time using various educational apps, so it was obvious to me I should begin the series via an app. Little Ashby: Star Reporter allows little ones to be able to go on adventures exploring all the places in the world while learning so much in the process. Little Ashby’s first assignment is to cover Santa’s Big Premiere on Christmas Eve to learn what the Holiday Spirit is really about. The app is incredibly interactive and it has real videos throughout for kids to tap on and see. There are also games at the end to reinforce what they learn!”
Some highlights to the game:

This morning we joined Ashby on her first assignment: An Interview with Santa and to find out the true meaning of the holiday. I interviewed my munchkins on their thoughts of the game:
Princess: “I really like Santa Claus and the Gingerbread Man because I like their giggles. I also liked Ashby talking to Santa.”
Handsome Bubba: “I liked Santa, The Gingerbread Man who giggled when you touched him. In fact, I liked that all the characters moved when you touched them. I could read and follow the story.”
What did mom enjoy? How the kids were able to interact with the characters and were truly engaged in the story. My 5 year old – already able to read, was able to follow along reading on his own while the narrator told the story. It’s certainly a lot of fun for the whole family.
