Going With The Flow And Let It Go

A couple of weekends ago we went to the Angel Game, one because we love going with friends, but the main reason – it was Little League Day at the stadium, and the players had the opportunity to walk the field. Naturally, we wanted to partake in the fun, so we piled into our RV and set off.

Now as the schedule went, we were to be at the park by 12pm – when the gates opened. The players were set to begin lining up by 12:30pm – actually getting a chance to walk onto the outskirts of the field by 1:30pm. Yeah, we waited until the last minute to let the kids enjoy their freedom rather than line them up for an hour and try to contain them. We finally get onto the field with anticipation and so much excitement. Parents getting their cameras ready for their memorable photos, lining the kids up for that perfect shot. But the staff had a different idea. “keep walking” they said. “Don’t stop, keep going.” What? I NEED to take my pictures. So we rush around to get closer to home plate for that perfect picture – again “Keep walking, you can take a picture farther up”. It was such a fun experience, but seriously, don’t rush me through.

After finally getting a couple of keepsake photos, we returned to our camp set up in the parking lot. We came prepared – RV, BBQ, all kinds of food, games and more. It was time to TAILGATE and let the boys run wild in the parking lot. The game was set for 5:05pm, so we had plenty of time to relax, eat, chat, plan for upcoming Little League events and more. Then it was the mad dash into the stadium before the game with everyone stuffing snacks into their bags. Oh come on, you can’t tell me you don’t save a few bucks by bringing your own munchies.

After the game, we made it back to the RV, but it was around 9pm and the traffic was insane leaving the parking lot. We decided to bring out the BBQs again and grab a quick bite rather than waiting in that long line and picking up something “To Go”. Highlight of the day was when one of the dads complimented us moms about “going with the flow.” On a typical day, I’d be freaking out – it was Sunday, a school night and even though we knew the kids will be impossible to wake up in the morning. But I have to admit, “going with the flow” was so nice, especially with a drink in hand. Once the parking lot cleared, we headed on out. Once we were home, then the mad scramble to get the kids into bed was on!
