With the holidays around the corner, I like to take the opportunity to teach the kids to give back. This year I was planning on having them go through their closets and donate some of their gently used clothing to a program called Schoola; an online shop dedicated to recycling brand-name women’s and children’s clothes, with $2 of every $5 spent going to fund school programs.
Schoola, founded by a mom and former principal, Stacey Boyd; turns clothing into opportunities for kids. Donate gently used clothes you no longer need, or that your kids have outgrown and help raise funds for your children’s school. All you need to do is request a free donation bag, set it out to be picked up by the mail man and you’re all set.
Schoola currently partners with over 16,000 schools nationwide. And you can get our own school involved in their own clothing drive by emailing: [email protected].
How it works:
- Send off your gently used clothes to Schoola
- Once received, the clothing is sorted, priced and photographed and listed on their website for sale
- Your school receives 40% of the sales proceeds from each item sold, less the cost of shipping for the inventory to reach the warehouse.
- Find your items and track your fundraising progress on your school’s very own fundraising page.
- Checks to participating schools are cut every three months
- If by chance clothes do not meet standard for resale, they are sold via bulk channels with 40% of the proceeds (less the cost of shipping donations to Schoola’s warehouse) going to the donating school.
On the flip side, if you’re looking for awesome deals on name brand clothing, you need to check out Schoola. Right now, they are partnering with favorite brands like Gymboree, Tea Collection and Modcloth for limited time flash sales to raise money for the Malala Fund. These brands have made generous donations of thousands of new-with-tags items which will be introduced each week! Find trendy new-with-tags items for up to 80% off retail price.
For a limited time, my readers will get $20 to spend on your first order!!! Visit Schoola today and start shopping. You’ll save and 40% goes to schools. Happy Holidays!
