A few weekends ago, my family went to Del Mar Racetrack to check out a little culture at the horse races. It was the start of their Free Summer Concert Series. We saw friends, couples, and families cheering, drinking and having a good time.
People lined up along the fences to cheer on their riders and horses after placing bets on what they believed were the winning horse.
It was exciting to get involved in the races, watching the horses, the riders and the spectators.
After the races end, you can get a closer look of the horses and the riders at the courtyard while they are being interviewed and photographed.
Later that night B-52’s were scheduled to perform. It was free with the purchase of the Stretch Run Admissions ($6).
Some came fully prepared. They brought their folding chairs and picked out their spots in advance.

It was fun people watching at Del Mar Racetrack. You might want to know it got pretty chilly, because we were by the water so don’t forget a jacket or sweater. On the way out, we grabbed a bag of warm kettle corn for the road. Yummm.
