This week I had the opportunity to visit JT Schmid’s with a few social media friends, sampling new menu items as well as a few classic entrees.
I recall 17 years ago when I first met the hubster, that we had a date at JT Schmid’s, and what I remembered most was their garlic fries and burgers. We’ve been back a few times, and I still remember ordering burgers, however last week, I was excited to discover some amazing appetizers, salads, entrees and more. JT Schmid’s isn’t just a fancy burger joint like I remembered. Its actually a classy casual restaurant that offers a delicious American dishes.
These delightful pieces of art appeared before us, and I wasn’t quite sure what they were. The “Not Your Mom’s Deviled Eggs” were a crowd favorite. Imagine, the egg white, fried in batter, topped with the deviled egg yolk topped with a special mustard sauce and paprika, I was ready to order more.
The Grilled Salmon was beautifully presented with a nice piece of Atlantic salmon grilled with a sweet soy teriyaki over a mixed greens, rice sticks, wontons, bean sprouts, peanuts, tri-color peppers and carrots. To top it off, it’s tossed in a wasabi vinaigrette.
I really liked the Chilean Sea Bass that is marinated in a sweet ginger soy and served with sauteed spinach and steamed rice. The white rice was cooked exactly the way I love – a bit sticky and just the right consistency. I especially enjoyed the combination of flavors with the spinach, rice and sauce, when I come back with the hubster, I’d certainly order it again.
If you’re up for a little steak, the 16 oz. Prime Ribeye is full of flavor. We had it charbroiled with seasoned veggies and garlic mashed potatoes.
Classic burgers are typically my favorite, and every once in a while I’ll finish one, but have you ever seen a 6 pound burger? JT Schmid’s created this “Bigger Badder Asser Burger” that contains 6 pounds of beef. This burger is so HUGE that you really can’t pick it up. In fact, we watched as the waitress slowly cut this bad boy into sections; almost like a pie. This gigantic burger is perfect for parties of 8+, and is certainly a conversation piece that will run you $60.
Another option if you have a big group is this amazing steak salad. It was loaded with mixed greens, tri-color peppers, carrots, peanuts and more.
Now I’ve only shared a few of the favorites I had a chance to sample while at our social media gathering at JT Schmid’s, and luckily we have two locations not too far from us:
JT Schmid’s Anaheim: 2610 E Katella Ave. Anaheim, C.A. 92806 Phone: 714-634-9200
JT Schmid’s Tustin: 2415 Park Ave. Tustin, CA 92782 Phone: 714-258-0333
If you’re looking to host a large group, both locations have banquet and catering options available. As a matter of fact, a friend of my told me she hosted her wedding reception at the Anaheim location and her guests had an incredible time.
Thanks to our friends at GigaSavvy for arranging this awesome evening of food, fun and festivities at JT Schmid’s
