Yesterday I was so excited to attend the D23 Convention as part of the Media.
You may be asking, “What is D23”? Well, it is the Ultimate Disney Fan Event. You will hear, see, even engage in all things having to do with Disney from theme parks, movies, video games, consumer products and more.
To start off the morning, a few friends and I had breakfast next to the “Waffle-inator”.
If you’ve seen Phineas and Ferb on The Disney Channel, you would know that Dr. Doofensmirtz is a crazy inventor out to take over the world. In an upcoming Phineas and Ferb episode, “Mission Marvel”, the brothers, with the help of Marvel Superheros, take on evil villains as well as Dr. Doofensmirtz. “Mission Marvel” appears with the Waffle-inator in action on Disney Channel Aug. 16 (8 p.m. ET/PT) — and also airs on Disney XD on Aug. 25 (10 a.m. ET/PT)
So excited I got a chance to pose with “The Boys”. And the cast of Phineas and Ferb:
After the introduction of the “Waffle-inator”, we headed inside with a plan to hit up the archives. This year, there were costumes from several Disney movies on display.
Back downstairs, I couldn’t wait to see the new products that will be coming out in retail stores, like the new Disney Planes items:
Or some of the products available with our favorite Disney Junior Characters:
Even Build A Bear is jumping on the bandwagon. Check out the adorable new themed teddy bear. Disney themed costumes are available to create your favorite stuffed animal.
If you’re heading out to D23 Saturday or Sunday, here are some tips:
- Be prepared for LONG lines. I heard Friday and Saturday sold out, so it WILL be crowded.
- Eat before you get there. You’ll be so wrapped up in all things Disney, you may forget to eat
- Bring water. Keep yourself hydrated, it’s going to be a long, exciting day.
- Lighten your load before you go. There are giveaways and lots of opportunity to pick up fun new trinkets which get heavy!
- Make sure you wear comfortable shoes as you will be doing a lot of walking
- Download D23 app for updates and showtimes
- For specific presentations, you’ll need a “Stage Pass”. They are available on the 1st floor at a specific time each day. (Expect Long Lines)
Have a fun Disney Weekend!
Oh what FUN! Thank you for sharing what to expect. I’ve never been to D23 but hope to in the future.
Thanks Cynthia, It is certainly a unique and fun experience. Everyone gets something different out of it.
It was so great seeing you there! You are completely right that it’s so easy to forget to eat!
