If you love the outdoors, especially fishing, mark your calendar for the upcoming Kids Fishing Derby at the North Lake at Mile Square Park on Saturday, March 21st from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
This annual event has been entertaining families for years. Hosted by OC Parks, California Department of Fish and Wildlife and Angler Chronicles, kids between the ages of 6 and 15 will be able to fish for FREE!
Be sure to bring your fishing gear, lawn chairs and some snacks for a fun day out with the family. The Kids Fishing Derby registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. and go through 8:30 a.m. with the Derby starting promptly at 9:00 a.m. There will be a limited number of fishing rods available for loan if you don’t have equipment to bring yourself.
The lake will be stocked with trout and catfish just for the derby, so be ready with your gear. If you haven’t had the opportunity to fish before, Fishing clinics will be hosted throughout the event. Participants will compete to win multiple prizes for finalists and champions in different age groups.
One thing to note: while the Kids Fishing Derby is FREE, however parking is $5 per vehicle.
