It Was An Epic Day Backyard Movie Camp Out

With Epic the movie is coming out on DVD on August 20th, Fox Home Entertainment helped some friends and I celebrate with an a Epic Day Backyard Party last week.

The kids showed up around 4pm and were so excited to see each other, it seemed a little crazy.  We have a few play houses and cozy coupe cars they immediately got into “Play Mode”.

Since the kids were 5 years and under, I decided that we’d send them on a scavenger hunt through the garden.  I picked up some props at Walmart and created the following checklist:

With the help of their parents, they were able to quickly find all the items.

I think their favorite items were the toy snakes as the boys ran around chasing the girls with them.

It was great to see the children help each other and point out all the items as they were found.

Then the Hubsters started up the barbeque for some delicious hot dogs.  We also had a variety of snacks on the menu:

While everyone was eating dinner, we started up the movie.  The kids loved sitting around on the couches, lounge chairs and dining chairs (they ended up playing musical chairs for like 10 minutes before they all got comfortable) while eating and enjoying Epic.

To screen the movie, we used a projector and Apple TV/iTunes to stream the movie via DigitalHD.  A simple set up, you can watch anything streamed through iTunes that you can download now before Epic is released on Blu-ray/DVD on August 20th.

For more fun, the girls did what they do best – become beautiful princesses!

Fox Home Entertainment has partnered up with the Kidgets Program at Brea Mall  to celebrate Back To School Family Fun Day and the upcoming release of Epic to DVD and Blu-ray on August 20th.

Simon Kidgits Club’s Back-to-School event will feature a variety of interactive activities for children and valuable offers for adults, all designed to make transitioning into academic routines a little easier.

• Infusing some fun: To incorporate excitement into getting back to the classroom, kids will have the opportunity to participate in seasonal-inspired craft-making activities and games.
• Introducing what’s hot: Before hitting the books, families can explore the latest clothing, accessory and toy trends from retailers at Brea Mall.
• Sharing savvy ways to save: Event attendees will have the chance to win prizes and giveaways and tackle their back to school shopping lists with exclusive retailer coupons. 

Kidgits Club members will engage with EPIC by:

• Viewing Area
• Decorating their own bug jar!
• Creating their own garden stake!
• Completing coloring and activity sheets.
• Receiving a movie mini poster (while supplies last).

The Simon Kidgits Club is a fun and informative program that focuses on health, wellness, education, safety and entertainment for children ages 3-8.
