This week, since my Mom was in town from Las Vegas, I decided to take her out on a Mom/Daughter girls night out with Pippin at Segerstrom Center for opening night.
Pippin has finally returned to Broadway since it was live on stage 40 years ago. It is the story of a young prince who is on a journey to find some meaning in his life. When he comes to a cross road, he must choose between a simple, happy life or a life with 15 minutes of fame.
Like all Segerstrom shows, if you arrive early, enjoy fun interactive experiences like fun photo opportunities,
sharing what makes you extraordinary and learn more about the show itself.
What we enjoyed most at our girls night out with Pippin? The acrobatics. There were amazing flips, twists, people flying through the air – all to amaze the audience. My mom absolutely loved the first act, especially the act with Pippin’s Grandmother.
Pippin is an entertaining show with Bob Fosse style choreography by Tony Award nominee Chet Walker and acrobatics by Gypsy Snider and 2013, Pippin received the most nominations including:
- Best Revival of a Musical
- Best Direction of a Musical (Diane Paulus)
- Best Actress in a Musical (Patina Miller)
- Best Featured Actress in a Musical (Andrea Martin)
