When I was younger, I’d admire those moms who could pull off some fabulous hair dos on their little girls. My mom was always particular about making sure my hair was in order and styled nice every day. Now, I’m doing the same for my princess. Her favorite styles – anything inspired by the movie Frozen or Disney Princesses. I was recently introduced to two books: Frozen Hairstyles and Disney Princess Hairstyles and now we’re on a mission to try and do each look.
Between the two books, there are over 60 different unique hair styles including braids, updos, buns, waves, twits and ponytails. My daughter being a HUGE Elsa fan absolutely loves the Frozen styles – especially the braids. Many we ended up altering because of her having dance rehearsals – so therefore the added bun in some photos.
The Disney Princess Hairstyles includes looks from favorite Disney princesses including Ariel, Mulan, Cinderella, Snow White, Tiana, Pocahontas and more. As you thumb through the pages, each look has a step by step photo guide on how to create each style.
The styles in the books are all done on model children with quite long hair. My daughter having medium length hair and layers of bangs made it a little more difficult to pull off some styles because she has so many short fly-away strands – therefore I ended up altering them just a tad. However, once we completed the look, sprayed it with a little hair spray, it lasted the day.
For the first look, we tried the Mulan “Battle of Twists and Turns”. For this look you need several rubber bands and a topsy tail to flip the hair over the elastic band. Quite an easy style to accomplish and it is perfect for any length of hair – even if your little one is growing out her bangs like mine.
Next, we tried Ariel’s Braided Twists, with a finishing bun. Again, a great hair style for little ones growing out their bangs – you pull them back in a French braid. With the bun at the end – a perfect ballerina look.
For our final look, we tried Elsa’s Braidless Braid. Again, you need several rubber bands and a topsy tail to complete the flip look.
