April Highlights at Pretend City @pretendcity

Can you believe it’s already April?  Pretend City has some great events celebrating Earth Day and Autism Awareness.  They will also share spring time activities like “Where did the sun go when it set each night and reappeared in the morning? What happens to the rain as it disappears on the sidewalk after a thunderstorm?

Special Events:

Monday, April 22: Earth Day 
10:30am – Lil Me Morning Activity
Earth Day celebrates our amazing planet Earth and all the plants and animals that live here with us with Lil’ Me Morning Activity! These activities will inspire budding environmentalists to recycle, reduce, and reuse waste as they learn that even children can make a difference in the world.
4:00pm – 7:00on Imagination Celebration
Specifically for: Children ages 3-8 years old and their grown-ups Green STEAM at Pretend City? Learning how how to “go green” through exploring Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math! Our diverse activities will motivate children to recycle, reduce and reuse! Bring recycled plastic bottle caps to create a repurposed mural in our Art Studio and receive admission for only $5! Fee: $5 with a handful of plastic bottle caps; $8 without


Monday, April 29: Family Autism Event 
Time: 5:00-7:30 p.m.
Specifically for: Families with children of all ages who are on the autism spectrum; Pretend City will be closed to the general public Children and their parents, siblings, and caretakers are invited to play in an autism-friendly environment along with other families. Our community partners who support children on the autism spectrum will be on-hand to enrich your family’s play experience with welcoming smiles and practical support.
RSVP: max. 80 families; only families with a reservation confirmation number will be admitted.
Fee: FREE thanks to the generosity of the Watson Family Foundation

Daily Lil’ Me Mornings 
Time: Monday – Friday 11:00a.m.; Saturday & Sunday 10:30a.m.
Lil’ Me Mornings facilitated activity times empower your family to create rhythms and routines to joyfully celebrate Pretend City’s monthly theme. April’s Lil’ Me Mornings celebrate all the wonders of Earth. Each daily activity will incorporate an aspect of earth science through traditional preschool circle time curriculum.
Mondays – Early Earth Science Explorations
Tuesdays – Collecting and Examining Life
Wednesdays – Rainbows, Color, and Light
Thursdays – Rockin’ Rocks
Fridays – Wonderful Weather
Saturdays – Earth’s Changing Surface
Sundays – Nature’s Recyclers

Daily Engaging Afternoons
Time: Tuesday – Friday 3:30p.m.; Saturday & Sunday 2:30p.m.
These engaging afternoons provide an introduction to the world around us through explorations in earth science and environmental education. Children will be inspired to think about their own place in the world and the place that they call home. These fun, engaging, and interactive activities make the world easier to understand.

Saturdays – Earth in the Universe

Monday, April 8: Baby Steps through Pretend City!    
Time: 2:00-3:30p.m.
Specifically for: Infant (0-18 months) and their grown-ups. For the comfort of our infant guests, no older siblings please.
Think you can’t do an art project with your baby? Think again! This Baby Steps event will show you how to do art activities with your infant to enhance your child’s development. Visit the Art Studio, Beach, and Grocery Store for exclusive infant and young toddler only age-appropriate, facilitated activities.
RSVP: max 60
Fee: $10 per adult, FREE for infants and Pretend City Members

Saturday, April 27: Pretend City Opens at 1:00p.m.
Pretend City will be closed to the public until 1:00p.m. on Saturday, April 27 for the Orangewood Children’s Foundation Independent City event. Pretend City is proud to host the children of Orangewood for this special opportunity.
