A Weekend Escape – Sonesta Los Angeles LAX

Over the weekend, I had the opportunity to enjoy a relaxing getaway at the Sonesta Los Angeles – LAX in partnership with Sonesta Hotels. This recently renovated property is located less than a mile from Los Angeles International Airport and is close to many fun things to do in Southern California.

My husband and I both had long days at work. He ended up in Oxnard with his team, while working close to home in Cypress. The Sonesta Los Angeles Airport – LAX was a great location for us to stay since it was halfway between us. To top it off, we had been invited to a friend’s birthday party at Top Golf El Segundo, less than 6 minutes away.

We drove up to the hotel and first noticed the outdoor area. What a great place to sit and wait for an Uber or airport shuttle or even just hang out and relax. Upon entering the hotel, the spacious entryway was bright and inviting, with the restaurant areas off to the left and the reception counter to the right just beyond the lobby.

Once checked in, we headed to our accommodations. It was a spacious room with a king-sized bed with plush bedding. The room also had typical furnishings including a sofa bed with a side table, a small chest of drawers, a desk, and a comfy chair. The view was of the nearby hotels and highways unique to Los Angeles and a part of the airport.

After checking in, and getting situated in our room, we headed off to Top Golf to meet our friends. I love that there are so many things to do close by. Some of the options include:

  • Dockweiler Beach
  • Intuit Dome
  • The Kia Forum
  • SoFi Stadium
  • Hollywood Park
  • YouTube Theater
  • Manhattan Beach Pier
  • Exposition Park
  • California Science Center
  • Westfield-Century City Shopping Center
  • University of Southern California, Los Angeles
  • Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall
  • The University of California, Los Angeles
  • Crypto.com Arena
  • And so much more

It was late when we got back to the hotel so we just headed up to our room, with plans of exploring the hotel in the morning.

For breakfast on Saturday morning, you have the option of a plated meal or The Breakfast Buffet. we selected the breakfast buffet at The Landing Restaurant in the hotel. I was excited about the variety of fresh fruits, bacon, sausage, breakfast potatoes, omelet or eggs any way we wanted it, hot & cold cereals, pastries, fresh vegetable salad, charcuterie & cheese, dried fruits, assorted yogurts, fresh juices, milk, coffee or tea.

The following day, my husband had to head off to work, so I had made other plans. I was waiting for two of my besties to arrive and hang out with me. However, in the meantime, it was time to explore.

The Sonesta Los Angeles Airport – LAX is also a great place for meetings, conferences and special events. Like other hotels, they offer several different sizes of spaces, but what I found unique was their meeting event lobby area. I really liked their reception and coffee bar, which was set up for a conference the day I was there.

It was unique and I loved that it can be customized for any occasion.

During my exploration, I discovered there are still some areas at the Sonesta Los Angeles Airport – LAX that are still under construction. The pool and the gym are still being renovated so I did not have the opportunity to see those areas, maybe next time.

When my friends arrived, they were super excited about the rooms as well. Again, our recently renovated room had a king-sized bed and a comfortable pull-out couch, so there was tons of room for the three of us. We had such a great time catching up.

Appetizers at Taproom

Then it was time for dinner. Dinner was quite delicious. We started off the evening at Century Taproom, which is located in the lobby of the hotel, with appetizers: Ahi Poke Nachos, Crispy Brussel Sprouts, and a Sushi roll from the sushi bar.

We also enjoyed our delicious cocktails, Prime Ribeye Steak, Lobster Noodles, and a gorgeous Chirashi from the Yokoso Sushi Bar. Everything was fantastic.

We truly enjoyed the nights we stayed at the beautiful Sonesta Los Angeles – LAX, and hope to do a return visit in the future.
