Are your kids huge fans of trains? Saturday and Sunday, May 18th and 19th, The Orange Empire Railway Museum will be hosting a Spring Railway Festival in Perris, CA.
Ride trolleys, electric-powered locomotives and steam trains all day or get behind the throttle of a railroad locomotive under an instructor’s supervision. Families can enjoy live bluegrass music, food vendors and special train exhibits. Take the kids for a ride on a hand car. See a railroad exhibit presented by Knott’s Berry Farm. Crown Fire Coach Enthusiasts will display vintage fire engines.
Train rides start Saturday at 11 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m. Ticket prices: Ages 12 and up, $15; ages five to 11, $10; and ages 4 and under are free. Operating a real locomotive is $20 extra. Orange Empire Railway Museum at 2201 South A Street in Perris operates a Museum Railway where visitors can ride on the historic trains and trolleys that helped shape the Southern California we know today. The Museum Railway operates every weekend and on most major holidays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and also on weekdays forcharters and other special events. The Museum grounds are open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the exception of Thanksgiving and Christmas.
