My daughter is always asking me when she can have a play date with her school friends, since they had so much fun at our last one. I decided it was time to surprise her and invited her friend, and her friend’s mom out with us to grab some ice cream before we picked the older siblings. It was time to try out the new ice cream shop I’ve heard a lot about – the Creamistry.
Since we had about an hour and a half between pick ups, we grabbed the girls and were on our way to the Creamistry in Cerritos that boasts made to order, liquid nitrogen infused ice cream.
How it works:
First, you choose your size:
- Small
- Medium
- Large
- Family Size
Then you choose your base: You can choose a premium creamy base or a light organic/fruit base
- Signature Premium
- Organic
- Real Fruit Sorbets
Finally, you choose your “Mix Ins”:
- There are 50+ flavors and
- all kinds of mix in items and toppings to personalize your favorite ice cream treat.
Once you’ve selected your ice cream recipe and the ingredients are assembled in a mixing bowl, the ice cream technician gets to work, adding liquid nitrogen; a clear, odorless, tasteless ingredient, at about +321 degrees to freeze the cream mixture upon contact. The secret to the creamiest texture is the rapid freezing of the ingredients – making a phenomenal product.
The girls had a blast. Their favorite part of this special playdate was getting covered with the frost cloud from when the nitrogen was infused into the cream base. However, they also enjoyed selecting their perfect ice cream.
Imagine, a birthday cake ice cream loaded with sprinkles and gummy bears or a cotton candy ice cream with sprinkles mixed in, topped with marshmallows – the girls were in heaven!
As for the Mom’s, we selected a cookies n cream ice cream with cheese cake bites mixed in, in a waffle bowl, and a butter pecan ice cream with caramel and pecans mixed in topped with butterscotch pieces. Certainly the best part of the day!
One thing I noted is that the Creamistry‘s ice cream is that the scoops were pretty thick and creamy when sinking the spoons in for a bite. Most ice creams fall apart after sitting for a minute or two (like while I’m trying to get that picture perfect photo), however the Creamistry scoops held their shape – perfect for an ice cream cone.
If you get a chance, the Creamistry is a must when it comes to ice cream. And these girls would definitely say – Kid approved!
