Over the summer, we had the opportunity to go whale watching as part of our Summer Bucket List. You can see that post here. Newport Landing Whale Watching offers year round trips daily.
Throughout the year, different species of whales migrate. This is what you should expect:
- December – April: Grey Whale
- May – November: Finback Whales
- Year round: Dolphins, Seals, Killer Whales and Sharks
My kids love everything that has to do with the water. We have a pool, and over the summer I can never get them out. One thing they love – a huge inflatable whale we received as a gift. So it was an amazing experience to be able to take them out on the whale watching trip. No, my princess – excuse me, “mermaid” enjoys her imaginative trips swimming with the dolphins – her favorite mammal.
This time of year, I’d be sure to bundle up – as you probably already know. It can be quite cold out there on the water. You can pack a few snacks, but Newport Landing Whale Watching has an indoor snack bar with drinks and munchies available for purchase. Not sure if you or your children are susceptible to seasickness? I purchased these Motion Sickness Bands for my kids and they worked great!
