Have you ever seen an invention and think, “why didn’t I think of that?” One mom has invented the Magna Mini, a product that would have been so helpful when my kiddos were toddlers.
I know you’ve been there, your little ones probably struggle to zip up or button jackets, insisting that “I can do it!”, right? As you patiently (or impatiently) wait as they continue to get frustrated…
Maura Horton, inspired by her husband with Parkinson’s, struggled to button his shirt. Determined to help him remain independent, she created magnetic closure garments so that he could dress himself. As a mom, she realized this style of clothing would be perfect for children, and created Magna Mini, the first magnetized coat for kids.
In looking at a sample garment I received, I was pleased to see that the magnets were sewn in and reinforced. Little fingers are unable to get to those magnets.
The jacket itself is rather light weight, made of a durable nylon material and 100% polyester fill that is washable. Both the jackets and vests have pockets, heat sealed tags, hooks and a label where you can write in your childs name.
My princess really likes her vest. The magnets made getting dressed and ready to go outside a snap – literally. With the quick close magnets, they just had to be near each other and they closed.
Now I was concerned about the safety of having magnets in clothing, and did a little internet search to see if is at all a concern. All I found was that if ingested, magnets could cause major harm if swallowed (Reference: https://www.cpsc.gov/PageFiles/128927/5221.pdf). As I stated before, these magnets appear to be sewn in and reinforced; they shouldn’t come out unless the garment were cut, so they appear safe.
We liked the Magna Mini vest, what do you think?
