This week we were invited to check out the new exhibit at the Discovery Science Center. Science of the Gingerbread has returned to entertain us all the 8th holiday season.
Right now, you can see the 186 entries on display through out Discovery Science Center.
Winners proudly display their badges. One of my favorites: “Upside Down Christmas” by Linda Stanwood
I just loved this upside down gingerbread house – the creativity is just amazing! And this beautiful toy horse was also another favorite of mine:
Upstairs, we built and raced our own Gingerbread Derby Racer. (available weekends only)
Start with graham crackers, straw, some candy and frosting and you have your self an awesome “edible” derby racer.
This, by far was a favorite for the family. And secretly, I think Dad really got into it, because after each race, he had to make modifications to his car, then re-challenge the kids.
For the littlest of elves, the tinker shop is sure to keep them busy! Isn’t it adorable – specifically designed for kids age 3 and under.
While you’re there, you’ll have an opportunity to meet St. Nick and get adorable family photos with the kiddos (weekends only). Find out the difference between skittles and M&M candy coating as well as learn how to build snowflakes.
Over the weekends through December, check out the following activities:
- “Holiday Colors & Lights” Stage Show
- Meet Santa and take your photo with him
- Build and race your own candy car
- Decorate holiday cookies and eat them too!
The Science of the Gingerbread exhibit will be at Discovery Science Center now through January 5th.

Don’t forget to check out the Ripleys Believe It Or Not Exhibit while you’re there! Some fascinating items are on display!
