If you’re in the Irvine area, you should check out the Daily Grill. A beautiful restaurant located on Dupont Drive, Daily Grill offers classic American dishes made from scratch. We were invited to sample the new Simply 600 menu that offers guests delicious flavorful meals with 600 calories or less.
We arrived at the Daily Grill and were immediately greeted by the hostesses, who quickly seated us in a private booth.The layout of the restaurant was such that many of the tables around the outskirts of the main dining area were a bit secluded – perfect for a nice quite romantic dinner. For us, it was the perfect spot for our family.
When visiting local restaurants, we love to ask the waiter or waitress for recommended favorites off the menu, and the Chicken Noodle Soup was the soup of the day. With big chunks of chicken, fettuccini noodles and large strips of vegetables, the soup hit the spot.
You know, my handsome boy can never seem to have enough Mac N Cheese – and again, he HAD to try the Daily Grill’s version. A delicious blend of cheeses that drenched the shell pasta, was perfect with every bite. He gobbled up each bite without even being asked – and that is a feat in itself!
The princess decided on the Chicken Pot Pie. A new selection for her, she enjoyed the flaky crust along with fresh chicken, carrots, onion, peas and mushrooms that were mixed inside with a creamy sauce. I think I even liked it more than her.
Now the Hubster and I decided to select our menu items off of the Simply 600 Menu. He ordered the Ancho Chili Rubbed Skirt Steak with a roasted tomato pan sauce, cowboy beans and grilled vegetables. Typically he would have ordered rice with a meal like this, but I thought the beans were quite tasty. In asking him about this steak, he said it was very tender and full of flavor. The vegetables were also tasty with a little balsamic vinaigrette drizzled over them.
I selected one of my favorite dishes – the Chicken Marsala from the Simply 600 Menu. Tasty tender medallions of chicken cooked, juicy and flavorful; sautéed mushroom Marsala Sauce with displayed over angel hair pasta. I thought the meal was very good, it just needed a bit more mushrooms for my taste.
To finish off the evening, we decided to go back to the original menu – well, it was for the kids. (I secretly wanted to have a bite or two). We were told that the Daily Grill Brownie Sundae was worth the few extra calories – and I’d have to agree. A moist chocolate brownie that is served with vanilla ice cream topped with hot fudge, whipped cream and a cherry that we ended up sharing, until I quickly snatched it away from the kiddos when they were done with their one bite, and devoured it.

Oh, and one of the items we HAD to sample, but ended up taking it home because we were so full – the Lobster Pot Pie!!! It’s on the menu for a limited time, but it’s a MUST TRY! Big delicious chunks of lobster all wrapped up in a delicious flaky crust with fresh cooked veggies.
