Stacked now has a brand new location in Huntington Beach! Stacked Huntington Beach* is located across the street from Bella Terra on Edinger Ave., the NEW Stacked has extended hours, offering guests breakfast along with their traditional menu of custom designed stacked meals! Guests are invited to take control of their own appetite by building their own dish utilizing the iPad technology to create their order and send it to the kitchen.

I was invited to a media tasting during the Grand Opening celebration at the new Stacked Huntington Beach. As I walked in, I was greeted by Paul Motenko, the creative mind behind the customizable menu offered by Stacked. Paul shared his love for food, and the vision he had in letting guests customize their food. When the iPad hit the market, Paul realized he could then continue with his “food well built” concept by using the iPad as the medium to customize and order the food.

After we were seated and browsing the iPad and menu, these scrumptious Blueberry Fritters came out. Apparently they were pre-ordered for us and was the perfect way to start our Stacked Huntington Beach experience. It is a MUST TRY!

Paul’s first recommendation was the pancakes. Guests can order whole grain fruit and nut, buttermilk or gluten free pancakes and stack over 20 different toppings that match your craving of the day. They have a kids size that is half of what you see above, which I totally recommend if you have little ones. We let the kids order because they were so into the iPad, this was their creation – caramel apple buttermilk pancakes with fresh strawberries, chocolate sauce topped with whipped cream. The pancakes came out a golden brown, thick and fluffy; and full of flavor.

Paul’s next recommendation was the breakfast burritos. He was excited to tell me this was also a favorite because you could visit Stacked Huntington Beach every morning for breakfast and get a completely different customized burrito everyday! This was music to my ears as I am a lover of breakfast burritos. Ready to customize my burrito, when I found the options on the iPad, I realized Paul had already created one just for me – the Chorizo and Black Bean Egg Burrito. It is exactly something I would have created myself loaded with scrambled eggs, black bean mix, chorizo, pico de gallo, avocado, cheddar cheese, green onions and a side of fire roasted salsa. Since I felt I needed to customize it (even though you don’t have to), I added bacon to this massive burrito.

If you like something with a little spice, check out the Chilaquilis Benedict, which is fantastic. Two poached eggs piled on corn tortillas with chorizo, a couple of shishito peppers and ranchera sauce, you’re going to need a little something to cool down the fiery flavors of this amazing dish.

Want to keep it light? Or are just craving a great bowl of yogurt? You can build that too with fresh fruit, nuts, granola, chocolate chips and even crushed Oreos; order whatever tickles your fancy!
