Contributor Alma Bosek went to a special event at The Corner Bakery, sampling a few new menu options. She shares her experiences: Last week I was invited to take a sneak peek at The Corner Bakery’s homemade Buttermilk Pancakes, Chilled Berry Almond Swiss Oatmeal and their Spicy Asian Pork Hot Toasted Sandwich.

Corner Bakery Chef Ric

The food adventure began with a live cooking demonstration by Chef Ric Scicchitano, Vice President of Food and Beverage for The Corner Bakery. We were encouraged to ask questions, taste the food and just have a great time. The whole experience made me love Corner Bakery and want to come back for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The best part of the day was that they shared their secrets and recipes with us.

Corner Bakery Buttermilk Pancakes

Chef Ric made Homemade Buttermilk Pancakes with real buttermilk. As he was cooking, he gave cooking suggestions. One of the best suggestions we heard was to make the pancake batter the night before for fluffier cakes. He continued on suggesting to use an ice cream scoop to make all of your pancakes the same size. Additionally, serve your pancakes with pure maple syrup by Adirondack.

Corner Bakery Swiss Oatmeal

The Corner Bakery Chilled Berry Almond Swiss Oatmeal was a delicious surprise. The key ingredients for this delicious breakfast dish is a combination of low fat vanilla yogurt, rolled oats, skim milk, green apples, bananas, currants, dried cranberries, topped with toasted almonds and fresh seasonal berries. To make it even better, they added a raisin pecan sweet crisps.

Check out a video of Chef Ric assembling the Chilled Berry Almond Swiss Oatmeal:

The brand NEW Spicy Asian Pork Hot Toasted Sandwich is the best sandwich ever at The Corner Bakery.

Corner Bakery Asian Pork Sandwich

This summer, experience shredded roasted pork sautéed in a spicy Asian barbeque sauce. The sandwich includes made-in-house pickled jalapenos, sliced cucumbers, shredded cabbage, carrots and cilantro. All of these ingredients are on a toasted French roll.
