Mimi’s Café Features Honey Lavender Grilled Pork Chop This Fall

Have you been to Mimi’s Café recently? They recently hosted a contest asking guests to develop an amazing dish French inspired American comfort food dish that included 10 ingredients that Mimi’s Café would showcase this Fall. With more than 175 recipes submitted, the winner is a Honey Lavender Grilled Pork Chop and will be featured in all Mimi’s Cafe’s beginning September 19th.

Honey Lavender Grilled Pork Chop

We were invited to our nearest Mimi’s Café to sample their new Fall featured menu item: The Honey Lavender Grilled Pork Chop and my husband and I were quite impressed. As shown in the above picture, this dish was as tasty as it was picturesque. A center-cut pork chop, lightly glazed with honey, and a variety of herbs including lavender, grilled to perfection. When I cut into each bite, it was moist and full of flavor. Served along side of the pork chop  was a mixed green salad with sliced green apples, cranberries, toasted walnuts, roasted potato croutons and goat cheese tossed in a balsamic dressing.

Honey Lavender Grilled Pork Chop - Mimi's Cafe

This original recipe was submitted by Michael Watz of Evanston, Illinois, which also won them a trip to France, where the Mimi’s parent company, Groupe Le Duff is based. Congratulations to Mr. Watz on a delicious dish my husband and I both really enjoyed.

While we were at Mimi’s Café, we decided to sample a few other items on the menu.

Mimi's Cafe Hand Mixed Guacamole and Chips

The hand mixed Guacamole and Chips was just the perfect appetizer. Chunks of fresh Hass avocados, mashed with a hint of lime juice, mixed with cilantro, jalapeno and a finely chopped red onion.

Mimis Cafe French Onion Soup

One of my absolute favorite items to order at Mimi’s Café has always been the mini crock of French Onion Soup. Delicious chunks of onion with just the right amount of cheese and the richness of the broth is amazing for any type of weather. Each time I have it, I’m transported back to my college days when I would pick up “to go” orders on my way home from class.

Provencal-Garlic Brick Chicken

My husband absolutely loved his Provencal- Garlic Brick Chicken. A fresh fire-grilled half chicken cooked “under a brick” for crisp, crackling golden brown skin with juicy breast, wing, and leg meat. This dish was deliciously paired with rich baked cheesy gratin potatoes and red wine vinaigrette salad.
