When it comes to dinner time, there are days when I get tired of having the same old thing. Every now and then we all need a little inspiration to come up with something creative. I’ve recently been introduced to Raddish Box, a monthly subscription to culinary creations with your children.
The Raddish Box is derived from the proven techniques, lessons and delicious recipes from the creators of Kitchen Kid, the leading provider of edible education throughout Los Angeles, packaged and delivered to your doorstep.
Monthly Raddish Boxes Include:
- 3 family friendly recipe guides carefully illustrated for kids, that provide parents with the necessary background and vocabulary to create fun, enriching, and delicious kitchen lessons.
- 1 skill card helping kids learn culinary techniques.
- 2 creative activities with all the necessary materials, aimed at getting the family sitting, talking, and eating together. Activities range from science experiments and art projects to oral histories and foodie games.
- Your shopping list, which is also emailed to the week your box ships.
- Table Talk card deck ensuring fun chatter at the next meal.
- An adorable Raddish patch to be ironed-on to your Raddish apron. They send a new patch each month.
Since we are such a busy family with afternoon activities, I saved our Raddish Box for a day we were all going to be home. I really wanted the kids to get into the art of cooking. I ran to the store (without the kids because they honestly drive me bonkers when shopping) and picked up the ingredients. The shopping list provided makes this so easy!
Once at home, we started with the art project. Included in the kit was little strips of tissue paper, glue, a sponge paint brush and the instructions on how to create a candle out of a mason jar. We have done this project before, and it’s one the kids absolutely love doing. Pasta sauce jars also work nicely with it.
Then we moved onto the salad. The Panzanella Salad was quite tastey for the adults, however my kids were more excited to make it rather than eat it. It included all of the ingredients to build a brushetta type of salad without lettuce: Italian bread, tomatoes, onion, cucumbers, garlic, red onion, olive oil and vinegar and basil.
Up next was the pizza. I loved the recipe for the pizza crust. Quick and easy to make, this is one recipe we will utilize regularly!
The recipe cards made preparation quite easy and easy to follow along with for kids ages 4 and up. My little chefs were quite proud of their creation!
