In 2014, 38 million cuties were served in McDonald’s happy meals and a la carte from November 2014 through March 2015. Apparently families LOVE having cuties as an optional side to their traditional meal, which is why the folks at McDonalds have brought them back!

 

My son has been on a cuties kick. On a recent visit to the grocery store, he insisted that we pick up a HUGE bag of cuties, vowing to eat them daily with his lunch. We were really excited to hear that McDonalds happy meals now include cuties as another side option. Every Cutie provides an excellent source of Vitamin C and is a much healthier choice than french fries.

Since 2012, McDonalds has been adding new side alternatives to their traditional Happy Meal giving guests the ability to customize their meal. In 2012, McDonald’s USA introduced pre-packaged apple slices as an additional Happy Meal item and has served more than 1.5 billion packages of apple slices in kids’ meals and 232 million Go-GURT® tubes were served across all McDonald’s USA’s restaurants from June 2014 to October 2015.

Then they added milk jugs and juice boxes to the menu. 21 million additional milk jugs and juice boxes were served in Happy Meals and à la carte from July 2014 to May 2015. When given the choice, my kids choose milk 9 times out of 10.

I’m loving that McDonalds is now giving families options to create meal time – their way. It’s up to us to make good choices for our families. McDonald’s and the Alliance for a Healthier Generation have a global partnership on a Clinton Global Initiative Commitment to Action to increase families’ access to fruit, vegetables and low-fat dairy.
