Beauty And The Beast Was The Perfect 1st Musical For My Princess | @SegerstromArts #SCFTA #BeOurGuestOC

Last night I had the unique opportunity to take my Princess to see one of my favorite musicals, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, on opening night at Segerstrom Center For the Arts.

With her love of music, dancing and princess’, I thought this would be the perfect night out with my beautiful girl

Dinner at Pizzaria Ortica

We started off the night heading off to Pizzaria Ortica to meet our friends Mary from LetsPlayOC and her sister Leyna for some fabulous pizza.  It was the perfect spot, because of the food, ambience, and proximity to Segerstrom Hall; its practically next door – withing walking distance.

Then we headed on over to Segerstrom Center For The Arts.  Once we were inside, we stopped at the souvenir stand so we could pick up something special for the Princess to remember our evening.

Themed Cupcakes

Segerstrom Center has wonderful pre-show activities that take place an hour before the performance, so if you want to participate, make sure you arrive early.

  • Puppet Making Workshop – Children will have the opportunity to create their own Lumiere inspired masterpiece.
  • Library – In the library, children can read stories and get creative with coloring sheets.
  • Photo Opp – There are two great backdrops to capture the evening. Don’t forget to share via social media with #BeOurGuest
  • Themed Cupcakes and Cocktails – Delicious cocktails and beautiful rose/Beauty And The Beast themed cupcakes by Patina group are available for purchase.

Lumier Inspired Masterpiece

Disney’sBeauty and the Beast is the classic story of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped in a spell placed by an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.

Disney's Beauty And The Beast

I just loved Hilary Maiberger as Bell.  She reminded me of Paige O’Hara, the original voice of Bell in Disney’s Beauty And The Beast.  The costumes were fabulous, and included 580 costume pieces including some of the original Broadway costumes.

One of my favorite scenes included Gaston, at Gaston’s Tavern where an amazingly choreographed number included a 36 mug tapping extravaganza.  The crowd was singing and claping, enjoying the entertainment.

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast has become an international sensation that has played to more than 35 million people worldwide in 21 countries. For additional information, please visit www.BeautyAndTheBeastOnTour.com.

I have had several questions from parents wondering if this show is appropriate for young children.  I feel that it is, however there are a couple of scenes that are a little dark, just as in the movie.  Also, there were a couple of costumes that were a little revealing, but nothing that I was overly concerned about. So in my opinion, yes, if I had the opportunity again, I would bring my 4 year old.
